Lana Del Rey has downplayed claims that actor James Franco will publish a total book about her.

Franco is known to have discussed the singer alongside award-winning writer David Shields. It was previously reported that Flip-Side: Real And Imaginary Conversations With Lana Del Rey can be released in March 2016.

The singer, however, has refuted these reports. She told Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 radio show on Monday (August 10): “I guess I was surprised there were a book. I haven’t seen it. And I don’t think it’s gonna end up. It’s an awesome idea – I think we definitely wanna have on it and still have time.”

Del Rey continued to mention that she genuinely does admire Franco’s work and “became friends” with him recently. “He’s someone I artistically look up to. That scenario is rare,” she said.

Franco had previously penned this short essay about Del Rey for V Magazine, writing: “When I watch her stuff, when I pay attention to her stuff, I am reminded of the stuff I love about Los Angeles. I am sucked in a long gallery of Los Angeles cult figurines, and cult people, up forever like vampires and bikers.”

“The only difference between Lana and me is her haunting voice. That carries everything. The voice may be the central axle around how the spokes of the stuff else extend.”

High By The Beach

Lana Del Rey shared her new single on Monday, titled ‘High By The Beach‘. She told Zane Lowe on the track: “It’s a little like a hip-hop record. It started using the chorus. I was driving through the beach a whole lot. This was probably one in the last ones within the record… Even with all the harmonies, it almost sounded monotone. But with all the beat, it’s this trap influence.”

Del Rey’s forthcoming new album ‘Honeymoon’ follows on from 2014’s ‘Ultraviolence’ which is expected to be released in September.

Meanwhile, Lana Del Rey will feature on The Weeknd’s new album, ‘Beauty Behind The Madness’.
